Mackenzie's Nursery Reveal

Mackenzie's Nursery Reveal

I am so excited to reveal Mackenzie's nursery. Her nursery was the second room we completed in our new house. We wanted to create a warm and inviting space and a place where Mackenzie could grow up and make it her own. I had so much fun picking out furniture and colors and creating a warm and peaceful atmosphere. We started off picking out the crib and changing table. I saw both pieces on Pinterest and fell in love! I love how versatile both pieces are and can change as Mackenzie grows up. When she gets older, the changing table can easily convert into a dresser for Mackenzie's "big girl" clothes, and the crib turns into a toddler bed.

My favorite space in the room is the six C's wall. We hope to instill six principles in Mackenzie that we believe will contribute to her success. The six C's are Confidence, Christ, Creativity, Compassion, Curiosity, and Courage. We found a vendor on Etsy to create canvases of the words and images of people who embody each concept. We chose the bible for Christ because it is important that Mackenzie first loves and knows Christ for herself and accepts God as her Lord and Savior. We pray she studies and applies his Word, which will give her the confidence and strength she needs to conquer anything. We chose Maya Angelou for creativity as an example of a black woman who used the arts to change the world. We hope her story inspires Mackenzie to think boldly and creatively and use her unique gifts to influence the world. We chose Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for compassion. We believe he demonstrated compassion and love for others through his words and actions and hope Mackenzie has the same compassion for others. We chose Mae Jemison for curiosity. She is the first Black female astronaut. Ms. Jemison's curiosity and love for science have opened doors for people of color to pursue STEM careers. If this is the path Mackenzie chooses to pursue, we hope that Ms. Jemison's example challenges Mackenzie to be curious and have a thirst for knowledge. We chose Lebron James for courage. Lebron James is Chris's favorite person. His bravery in basketball has allowed him to break records and change the game forever. We hope that Mackenzie is always courageous enough to go after her dreams. Lastly, Chris chose a picture of me for confidence. He is such a sweetheart for choosing me for confidence. I hope that I display confidence through my words and actions as Mackenzie's mom and that she builds the confidence to always advocate for herself, challenge the status quo, and pursue her dreams.

I think we successfully created a fun, inviting, and, most importantly, peaceful space. Mackenzie is always calm and happy when she is in her room. We love her room and cannot wait to create memories in her nursery!
